ATLANTA - Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor continued to lead Secretary of State Cathy Cox on Tuesday in the Democratic race for governor as former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed conceded defeat in his bid for the state's No. 2 spot. The winner of the bruising primary slugfest between Taylor and Cox will face Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue in the November general election. Perdue easily won the Republican nomination against a token opponent Tuesday night. Perdue has a hefty $9.1 million in his campaign coffers. With 81 percent of the precincts reporting, Taylor was leading Cox 51 percent to 44 percent. Longshot candidates Mac McCarley and Bill Bolton each drew 2 percent. In the most watched congressional primary in Georgia, Democratic firebrand Rep. Cynthia McKinney faced the voters for the first time since her scuffle with a Capitol Hill police officer.
