On Tuesday night Spokane County commissioners were hearing from pawn shop owners and concerned citizens about the proposal. While police say the changes will cut down of petty theft crimes around Spokane and help detectives find criminals, at least one pawn shop owner says he isnt exactly thrilled they may soon have to take photos or finger prints of their customers. Larry Karlson is the owner of Axel's Pawn Shop and is not happy with the proposed ordinance that would require him and other pawn shop owners to either fingerprint or take digital photos of their customers. Police recommend fingerprinting currently and Karlson does this to some of his customers. We have implemented here a policy for newer customers when they get loans, he said, adding that if the law changes he worries his business could suffer.
