VICE-President Atiku Abubakar was, yesterday, weighing the legal option to contest Wednesday's raid of a commercial bank in Lagos by security operatives suspected to be on the trail of details of his accounts with the bank. He has already briefed his lawyers on the matter. He has, in the meantime, offered employment to all his aides and advisers who were fired three weeks ago by President Olusegun Obasanjo. Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the searchlight being beamed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on some state governors may shift in the direction of a top ranking official of the party soon. Chief spokesman for the Vice President, Mallam Garba Shehu, told Vanguard yesterday in Abuja that the Atiku political camp was not taking the action of the security operatives lightly.
