Two Memphis lawyers with little in common politically have circulated unusually candid letters to colleagues outlining their concerns about some "seriously unqualified" candidates in the Aug. 3 judicial elections. Richard Fields, a civil rights attorney and a Democrat, and David Caywood, a powerful divorce attorney and a Republican, point out in their separate letters that some candidates are not only short on legal experience, but also have personal, financial and professional problems ranging from bankruptcies, malpractice judgments and paternity suits. .
