Defense lawyers in the case of seven men accused of concealment of treason have threatened to apply for the court to strike out the charges against their clients. Lawyer Lamin Camara, talking for the defense complained that it was the fourth time the case was being adjourned because the state is yet to provide legal counsel for one of the seven accused. He also hinted that lawyers for the seven alleged March 21 coupists are contemplating applying to the High Court for the striking out of the case as a result of the lack of a counsel for one of the accused, Private Nying. Private Nying has been charged alongside others with the offence of concealing an act purportedly designed to overthrow the government of the Gambia contrary to Section 38 (A) of the Criminal Code. However since the start of the trial, Private Nying has been without a lawyer to represent him.
