It's always ironic and never good when the guy in charge of the prison system admits to being a crook. In Florida, though, it's nothing new when the prison system makes news in the wrong way. Last week, former Department of Corrections Secretary James V. Crosby Jr. and another ex-DOC administrator agreed to plead guilty for their role in a kickback scheme. According to federal investigators, Crosby and Allen Clark arranged for the company Crosby had hired to run prison canteen services to subcontract with a Gainesville company. That company then delivered to Crosby and Clark monthly payments of as much as $12,000. .
