LAWYERS representing Chief Justice Satnarine Sharma yesterday seemed to have faced an uphill battle in trying to convince the Appeal Court to allow an injunction restraining the entire Police Service from executing a warrant upon their client. The Court, comprising Justices of Appeal Margot Warner, Ivor Archie and Paula-Mae Weekes, after hearing more than four hours of legal submissions, reserved its ruling until Monday at 2.30 p.m., the very last day of the current law term. Whatever the ruling, the matter is expected to be finally determined before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which is on standby to deal with it during their official summer vacation. London lawyers representing both sides have already agreed that no steps be taken to arrest Sharma until the Privy Council gives its final decision.
