MIDDLETOWN -- A Manchester man's offer to buy the historic Wetmore House for $309,000 was hailed two weeks ago as "the last, best hope" to save the colonial relic, but a Tolland woman has come up with a proposal that is certainly later, and might be better. Lynn Colter's offer of $315,000 for the 260-year-old, 15-room house at Washington and Camp streets was filed in probate court late last week and will be the subject of a hearing next month before Probate Judge Joseph Marino. .
