Putnam General Hospital's parent company has agreed to allow Charleston Area Medical Center to manage operations there pending its proposed $15 million purchase of the Hurricane facility. The executive committee of CAMC's board, which meets Tuesday, must still approve the interim management agreement reached with HCA Inc. The state Health Care Authority, which regulates hospitals, has also been asked to review the agreement. The deal would replace HCA's plan to reduce Putnam County's only acute care hospital to an urgent care center on Aug. 29. CAMC would begin running Putnam General 10 business days after final approval, and "will offer employment, as appropriate,'' to its staff of 350 full- and part-time workers, President and CEO Dave Ramsey said in a statement. HCA would keep the hospital's assets and license while CAMC petitions the Health Care Authority to approve the hospital's sale, Ramsey said.
