By the time he had delivered a speech on the ethics of terrorism in Adelaide last night, the Federal Government had voiced concerns about his inquiry into the Solomon Islands riots, and his lawyers had claimed they had found the driver of the car that was photographed speeding in January this year. Mr Einfeld's lawyers stepped up their campaign to clear his name yesterday, saying they would soon reveal who was driving his Lexus. The claimed driver is a woman in the US, apparently willing to give evidence that she incurred the $77 fine Mr Einfeld successfully challenged at the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday. If that is true, Mr Einfeld still faces a police investigation after telling the court on oath his car was lent to a visiting Florida academic, Professor Teresa Brennan, before the infringement occurred at 4.01 pm on January 8 on Macpherson St, Mosman.
