A unique event took place on Friday last week at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Towers, Abuja when a group of young Nigerian lawyers came together to initiate and inaugurate the Competition Lawyers Interest Group. It was an epoch making event as for the first time, the emerging global trend of anti-competition advocacy was given its desired impetus in Nigeria. The initiative was that of two young Nigerian lawyers in the Diaspora Mr. Babatunde Irukera and Dapo Akinosun in collaboration with Lagos based Ikem Isiekwena. While congratulating the group for their thoughtful and proactive initiative, the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bayo Ojo, SAN who had to give up other pressing official engagements to personally attend the event said ' it is a demonstration of your understanding of one of the most prevalent tools of the free market worldwide.
