Senior lawyers argue that the commercial profession has moved on regarding attitudes to gay lawyers, but the latest Big Question survey finds that some still fear to be open about their sexuality at work. Charlotte Edmond reports Two-thirds of lawyers argue that top UK law firms do not discriminate against homosexuals, although more than half have gay or lesbian colleagues who are afraid to be open about their sexuality at work. These are the results of the latest Legal Week/ EJ Legal Big Question survey, which shows divided opinion among the UKs top lawyers about attitudes towards homosexuality in the profession. Sixty-seven percent of business lawyers stated they did not believe gay lawyers suffer discrimination, while 50% said they knew of some colleagues who were afraid to be open about their sexuality in the workplace.
