A Waterloo lawyer is facing a possible 15-month suspension of his law license after being accused of illegal drug use, mishandling of client funds, falsifying court records and charging excessive fees. The Grievance Commission of the Supreme Court of Iowa is recommending that the court suspend the law license of James F. Hall for at least 15 months and require Hall to undergo psychiatric evaluation before he resumes his practice. Hall is alleged to have mingled clients' funds with his own money and with money belonging to his employees. According to state records, one of those employees was a felon with past convictions for arson and perjury. Hall also is accused of forging a client's signature on a bankruptcy filing and neglecting six other clients' cases.
