Darren and Charla Mack stood before Judge Chuck Weller in January and vowed to settle the financial part of their divorce, with Darren paying his estranged wife almost $1 million over time to end their differences. But in the four months that followed, the deal began to crumble. Then on May 24, after a day of discussions and over Darren Mack's objections, Weller ordered the plan into place. Three weeks later, on June 12, Weller was shot in the chest as he stood in his courthouse chambers, and Charla Mack was found stabbed to death in Darren Mack's garage. Darren Mack has been charged with murdering Charla Mack and attempting to murder Weller. He's scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. Continuing its investigative coverage of a case that shut down Reno streets, shocked the community and drew a national spotlight for weeks, the Reno Gazette-Journal has acquired newly unsealed court documents that reveal what happened with the divorce in the months leading up to the June 12 violence.
