In the exclusive fraternity of Nevada gaming lawyers, Greg Giordano is a constant and venerable presence. Appointed to lead the Gaming Control Board's Corporate Securities division in 1989, Giordano supervised licensing applications for public companies that, with financing from Wall Street, set the stage for Las Vegas' rapid growth. He also helped write a state regulation in the early 1990s requiring companies to have compliance committees. A former partner with Nevada's largest law firm, Lionel Sawyer & Collins, Giordano was recently snapped up by Snell & Wilmer, one of the Southwest's largest and fastest-growing firms. Giordano focuses on helping companies obtain gaming licenses as well as other financial transactions such as financing and acquisitions. Question: How did you get into the gaming business initially? Answer: I was a deputy attorney general in the mid-1980s.
