The battle for the ownership of the Orange symbol is on the roll following a sensational claim by the lawyer who first registered it that he acted on behalf of two ODM-Kenya politicians. The stunning claim came with news that top ODM-Kenya leaders have patented the Orange logo with the Registrar of Trade Marks, even as it fights for a registration certificate from Registrar of Societies. What remains is that, according to a copy of the certificate issued to lawyer Mugambi Imanyara on December 22, last year, the two parties also have the name Kenya after the initials ODM for Orange Democratic Movement. The larger ODM-Kenya family was briefed on the new move, set to raise the stakes in the battle for the symbol, at a private dinner at Nairobi Club on Wednesday night. The leaders also resolved to popularise the logo, in which an orange sits on the map of Kenya, in a series of planned countrywide rallies.
