Paul McCartney To Make Charity Donation
2006-09-01
London, England (AHN) - A fundraising gala for the Adopt-A-Minefield campaign has been canceled because Paul McCartney decided he would not attend, according to British Newspapers. Adopt-A-Minefield declined to comment on Friday and did not confirm the cancellation. Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills McCartney helped found the charity. Paul and Heather hosted last year's gala in Los Angeles, which raised about $3 million for minefield clearance and the rehabilitation of land mine victims. McCartney said in July that he would not be at the event, "given the current circumstances." McCartney, 64, and Mills McCartney, 38, announced they were separating in May and have since begun divorce proceedings. British newspapers reported that McCartney may donate to Adopt-A-Minefield to make up for the cancellation.
