Attorney Drossman was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1997 and the New York State Bar in 1998 and is also admitted to practice before the New Jersey Supreme and District Courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, United States Court of International Trade, United States Circuit Court, 2nd Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Attorney Drossman was formerly an Administrative Law Judge for the New York State Department of Labor Appeal Board, Prosecutor with the New York City Law Department Office of the Corporation Counsel, European Editor for the Wall Street Transcript, Member of the Board of Directors of 104-106 Bedford Street Corporation, and the Christopher Street Preservation Alliance. Ms. Drossman is also a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Women’s County Bar Association and the Long Island Women’s Association. Appeals Lawyers: A challenge to a previous legal determination. An appeal is directed towards a legal power higher than the power making the challenged determination. In most states and the federal system, trial court determinations can be appealed in appeals courts, and appeals court decisions can be appealed in a supreme court. The person pursuing an appeal is called an appellant, while the person defending the lower court’s ruling is the appellee. Appeals can be either discretionary or of right. An appeal of right is one that the higher court must hear, if the losing party demands it, while a discretionary appeal is one that the higher court may, but does not have to, consider. For example, in the federal system, there is an appeal of right from the District Court to the Court of Appeals, but appeals from the Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court are discretionary.
